Hans J. Schmidt, MD, FACS
I was fortunate to have the opportunity to pioneer minimally invasive weight-loss surgery in the state of New Jersey. When I saw the weight-loss results that were possible and the potential they had to change people’s lives, I knew I wanted to make bariatric surgery the focus of our practice.
When we developed our program, we knew it was essential to focus on patient education and aftercare support. We’ve learned that the patients who are most successful for the long term make the decision to have surgery after fully understanding its risks and benefits. Our program is comprehensive, with a lot of emphasis on postoperative nutrition and lifestyle. I believe it is one of the things that has distinguished us within our field.
Because we have several surgeons on staff, we are able to offer our patients access to medical care 365 days a year. One of us is always available to take a phone call, answer a question or address a concern. Our depth and breadth of experience is another thing our patients really appreciate; they know they are getting the most expert care. And even though we perform a high volume of surgery, we treat each patient with an extraordinary degree of focused, personalized care.
